Talented Young Goalkeeper Wins Right to Road Accident Payout

Whilst many accident victims pick themselves up and try to make the most of their lives, that should not deter them from seeking just compensation. That point was vividly made in one case involving a young man who overcame road accident injuries to pursue his dream of becoming a professional goalkeeper.

He was aged just 12 when he was knocked off his skateboard by a passing car, which dragged him along under its wheels. He suffered severe facial fractures and his hearing and vision were for a time also badly affected. However, none of that has prevented him from making the most of his prodigious sporting talent and, at the age of 16, he was able to undergo trials with a Premier League football club.

In finding the motorist involved in the accident liable to compensate the teenager in full for his injuries, the High Court rejected claims that he was lying down on the skateboard, and thus invisible to the driver, before the collision.

The amount of the young man's compensation has yet to be finally assessed, but his lawyers have valued his claim at between £50,000 and £100,000.
