Profile

Fiona held the position of Dean of the School of Law at the University of East London for twelve years; this was followed by the position of Dean of the School of Law and Social Sciences until 2014.

She co-authored three editions of the Legal Action Group’s “A Practitioner’s Guide to the Police and Criminal Evidence Act” alongside Howard Levenson, later joined by Professor Ed Cape for the third edition. Fiona has also extensively written and lectured on matters concerning police powers and suspects’ rights.

Outside academia, Fiona chaired the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham’s Standards Committee for many years. She also served as one of Thurrock Council’s Independent Persons under the Localism legislation until 2019.

Fiona’s interests are the cinema and walking.
