Emma qualified as a Solicitor in 2006 with a regional firm and joined Fairweather Law Ltd in 2020. She is a Consultant Solicitor for the firm and specialises in working with our vulnerable or older clients.
She acts as a Professional Attorney and Deputy, managing the financial affairs of vulnerable clients and handling Court of Protection applications or complex LPA matters.
Emma and her team support client’s to maintain their independence when possible with as much or as little support as they need in doing so.
She is well-versed in the Mental Capacity Act, Court of Protection applications, Lasting Power of Attorney enquiries, care fee funding and local authority financial assessments, estate planning, and welfare rights issues.
Emma has also worked as a Family Carer Advocate at Suffolk Family Carers for over 10 years, supporting families of individuals with learning disabilities. She qualified as a Non-Instructed Advocate, NHS Complaint Advocate, and IMCA. She also completed Person Centred training and promotes person-centred approaches in her work.
Emma serves on the Management Committee of Essex Carers Network and collaborates with regional charities to support family carers.
Emma is an Independent Visitor for the Court of Protection and Office of the Public Guardian, a role she has held for over 14 years completing visits on their behalf outside of her role at Fairweather Law.
She also independently conducts Mental Capacity assessments for Wills, LPAs, and financial matters.
Emma enjoys spending time in her garden, coastal walks and watching her two boys compete nationally at scooter competitions so is often found at a skate park at the weekends!
